Yoga has exploded on social media and in the exercise world. It has gone from something some believed to be evil to something beautiful.
You can find yoga on all social media platforms and most exercise programs have additional yoga content.
So why is everyone jumping on the yoga band wagon?
Let's get a little deeper into that.
You can watch this video to see the top 5 reasons but there are 2 additional reasons below!
It is healthy for your body
In the words of my son he says "to get your body in shape" and yoga does that! Yoga is so good for anyones body men and women alike. Those who do sports, dance, for pain management, and just overall full body health. Yoga helps lengthen, strengthen, and lean out your muscles.
Relieve Stress
Taking the time for yourself to breath and move in unison helps the body relieve stress. It helps get blood flow to every part of your body. Moving through the flow also helps release built up tension that we tend to hold in certain parts of our body, like the chest.
Digestive Health
Many of the yoga poses are great for detox and digestion. When you are twisting and bending and breathing through the poses it helps to get things moving through your body.
Helps you sleep
Yoga can help with not only how much sleep you get but the quality of your sleep. Having yoga as part of your daily routine will get your body relaxed enough to sleep. With the above reasons in line sleep comes more easily.
Improves Cardio and Circulatory Health
Yes you read that correctly- it helps cardio health! It sounds crazy because when you think of yoga you think of still poses and stretching but yoga has a range of practices including some that will get your heart rate elevated. These flows are continuous movement with balance which improves your cardiovascular health and circulation. Your endurance. So next time you run on the treadmill you may notice you can breathe a little easier at your running speed.
Increases Immunity
Like most workouts yoga helps increase your immunity. When we move our organs around during our yoga poses it helps drain our lymph nodes which are rich in cells that help fight sickness.
Fun and Beautiful
I have to admit that I have gotten lost browsing photos of yoga before. I find it so relaxing and beautiful to look at. It also looks great on IG 🤣. Yoga is an enjoyable type of exercise as well. I find it fun and my kids have said it is fun before. You learn cool new ways you can move your body and new goals for you body outside of just weight loss and bigger weights at the gym.
Take these 7 reasons into account next time you think buying that yoga mat and starting your practice. No matter what level you are these benefits ring true. Also remember everyones practice looks different, so you don't have to accomplish what someone else does to be a yogi.
Looking forward to seeing new #momfityogis this year!
Smooches 😘
